Project Background

We received the first inquiry from the United States in mid-July 2024. The buyer was preparing a large agricultural greenhouse project in Ohio and needed galvanized steel pipes together with greenhouse structure accessories.

At the start, we did not know whether the request was an early price enquiry or a confirmed purchasing plan. The quantity was also much larger than a routine greenhouse pipe order. Based on the initial project calculation, the greenhouse structure would require more than 1,000 tonnes of galvanized steel pipes.

The buyer needed more than a unit price. The material quantities had to match the greenhouse layout, while the different pipe sections and accessories had to fit together during installation. The buyer also wanted to review how the goods would be transported, unloaded, and stored after arriving at the farm.

Our sales, technical, production, and logistics teams therefore worked from the same set of project information. The team reviewed the available site details, prepared an initial model, and developed a material list for the greenhouse structure.

Product Requirements and Order Confirmation

The supplied specification list included the following sizes:

30 × 70 × 2.0 mm
60 × 1.5 mm
32 × 1.5 mm

The project information identified Q195 and Q235 steel as the required material grades. The products were supplied with a galvanized surface for use in the greenhouse frame.

Because several pipe sizes and accessories were included, the team reviewed where each section would be used within the structure. The discussions covered the main frame members, curved roof sections, horizontal members, connection brackets, fasteners, and related greenhouse components.

Over the next month, we revised the material list with the buyer several times. The factory checked each pipe section against the greenhouse layout and worked out how the parts would be formed and connected. We also planned how to group the pipes and accessories for packing.

The buyer confirmed the order in mid-August 2024.

Drawing and Material List Review

After the buyer confirmed the greenhouse dimensions and layout, our technical team prepared the drawings and calculated the pipes and accessories needed for production.

The bill of materials helped separate the main galvanized steel pipes from smaller connection parts and greenhouse accessories. It also provided the basis for production quantities, packing groups, and loading arrangements.

The storage plan was another part of the discussion. A large volume of pipes and accessories could not simply arrive at the farm without an unloading sequence. The delivery plan therefore considered which components would be required first and how the materials could be grouped before dispatch.

The supplied records do not include the final drawing revision number or the exact number of each component. Those details should remain in the production drawing and packing list rather than being estimated in the published case.

Production Follow-Up

The workshop photos show long galvanized steel members being formed into curved greenhouse roof sections. Workers handled the pipes inside the production area while completed sections were placed nearby.

Another factory photo shows bundles of shaped galvanized sections stacked by type. The sections have an elongated profile and were secured into compact bundles for handling.

The factory also assembled part of the greenhouse frame inside the workshop. This mock-up included curved roof members, vertical posts, horizontal pipes, and a translucent covering. It allowed the team to review the overall frame shape and connection positions before the materials left the factory.

A close-up photo shows one of the frame connections. A formed steel bracket is fixed with three bolts, while another galvanized tube passes through the lower connection area. The image records the actual connection arrangement used in the assembly.

Factory Inspection and What the Photos Show

Two inspection photos show a handheld MP0-series gauge placed against galvanized steel members. The instrument manufacturer identifies the MP0 series as equipment used for coating-thickness measurement, including measurements on galvanized coatings. The photos therefore document a coating check, but they do not provide enough information to state the measured average or confirm the result for the full batch.

The factory photos also document several visible assembly points:

The curved roof members retained a consistent greenhouse arch shape.
Horizontal and vertical members were connected with formed steel brackets.
Bolts and fasteners were installed at the inspected joint.
Galvanized surfaces were visible on the main structural members.
A partial greenhouse frame was assembled inside the workshop.

The available images do not show a complete dimensional inspection report, final coating-thickness record, or structural load test. For that reason, no numerical inspection result has been added to this case.

Packing and Loading

The loading records show different packing methods for the main pipes and the greenhouse accessories.

One photo shows large framed components loaded on a flatbed truck. Square frames containing axial fans were placed along the lower section of the truck. Long rectangular panel sections were stacked above them. The lower components were wrapped, and straps were used to hold the load in position.

The loading photo shows paper sacks stacked across the container floor, with several bundles of formed galvanized sections placed above them and farther inside. The photo does not show what was packed in the sacks, so we cannot identify those items from the image alone.

The buyer could use the packing list to match each package with its contents and quantity before unloading.

Shipment and Site Guidance

The project notes record approximately 30 days from order confirmation in mid-August to delivery in mid-September 2024.

The galvanized steel pipes and greenhouse structure accessories were shipped in September 2024.

According to the supplied project information, engineers and installation personnel later travelled to the project site to provide assembly guidance. No installation report or completed-greenhouse photos were included in the available material, so the final installation condition has not been described here.

Notes for Similar Greenhouse Buyers

For a greenhouse structure order, a list of tube sizes alone is not enough. The buyer should also provide the profile shape, position of each member, greenhouse span, bay spacing, connection details, and accessory quantities.

The steel grade and product standard should be stated separately. The order specified Q195 and Q235 steel, but the project records do not show the exact GB standard used for the pipes.

For a U.S. project, the drawing package should also state the design basis for wind, snow, rain, live, and other applicable structural loads. Ohio documentation rules for industrialized structural systems require the structural description and the design load values to be identified, while some Ohio municipalities specifically list greenhouses among structures that require permits. The local engineer or buyer should confirm which requirements apply to the actual site.

Before production, similar buyers should confirm:

  • The exact profile corresponding to every listed dimension
  • The required zinc coating thickness
  • Connection brackets, bolts, and hole positions
  • The final drawing revision
  • Packing groups for pipes and accessories
  • The unloading and temporary storage plan
  • The inspection records required before shipment
